Practice Division: What is it All About?

The ASHT Practice Division witnesses many exciting milestones from lobbying decisions to member education decisions on regulatory matters. Our vision is to have at least one representative from each state. Volunteering might be a way of giving back to the community, but it also makes you a better leader, improves your skills and makes you a better communicator. Volunteering with ASHT, I have found like-minded and dedicated individuals working hard to promote the profession and facilitate reimbursement and awareness for the hand therapy specialty. As part of governance, you automatically collaborate and see great things happen.

If you would like to volunteer or simply improve your skills and understanding on legislative and practice issues, we welcome you to join us in any role, either as a Advocacy Committee member, a state liaison, a Practice Committee member or a Federal and State Representative Committee member. Join us to understand behind-the-scene workings and the logistics of these committees and how they differ in function from each other. As a committee member, you can be an observer or actively contribute toward meaningful tasks that impact legislation affecting our profession. Contribute by sharing evidence that you think should one day be a part of legislation.

Our representatives need our help in understanding our profession to make educated decisions when it comes to the hand therapy specialty. The Practice Division makes these things possible with the help of our legislative consultant. To learn more about these roles, visit our Volunteer Portal. You can apply for any of these opportunities directly through the portal.

We look forward to having you on the division so we can make a difference together!
