Nominations: Share Your Talents With the Hand Therapy Profession

Posted by Jane Fedorczyk, PT, PhD, CHT 03/14/2016

ASHT is seeking Active members interested in being servant leaders within ASHT. In accordance with the recently revised bylaws, the current Board of Directors will rotate positions at the Annual Meeting in September rather than the end of the calendar year.
The available positions for 2016-2017 are Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer-Elect and Board Member-at-Large. The position of Vice President is a four-year commitment as it is the start of progression through the presidential line. Both the Secretary/Treasurer-Elect and Board Member-at-Large positions are a two-year term. All of the nominees for Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer-Elect shall have previously served as an elected officer or Division Director. Anyone interested in serving must have been an Active member for at least five consecutive years. Board Member-at-Large is an entry-level position to serve on the Board of Directors.
The role of a servant leader is to serve first with focus on the growth and well-being of ASHT and the hand therapy profession. ASHT is the only organization dedicated to the professional needs of the hand therapy community. There is much to do to keep the profession moving forward and staying relevant within the evolving healthcare climate. The current leaders are looking for innovative and collaborative colleagues who share their passion for hand therapy and are willing to serve ASHT in a meaningful way. Through service, Active members will be rewarded with many benefits, including leadership development and networking opportunities. I personally have developed many friendships with other ASHT members who I might not have otherwise had a chance to meet. My seven years of board service has given me fond memories and friendships that I will cherish for years to come.
Please consider sharing your talents with the hand therapy profession. This is a self-nominating process. If you are interested in serving, please visit our Board Elections page to learn more about the responsibilities and qualifications for each position. The deadline to nominate is April 1, 2016. Please contact ASHT@asht.org with any questions.
