New Leadership Resource for ASHT Members

Posted by Rachel M. Pigott, MPH, OTR/L, CHT on 02/04/2019

We all learn more as we interact and learn from each other. The leadership of ASHT has been striving to engage a diverse and varied pool of member volunteers within our divisions and committees. As part of a strategy to develop leadership, we've aimed to provide wrap-around resources within our society.

As such, ASHT recently created the Emerging Leaders e-Community group. This forum is intended for ASHT members to learn more about leadership within ASHT at all levels, share volunteer opportunities and facilitate conversation among members in order to further their careers as leaders in the hand therapy community.

We hope this will be an interactive space to current and future leaders where you can gain leadership skills through the resources provided. We encourage members to ask questions about leadership in general and what it means to volunteer and lead within ASHT. If you have any recommendations for discussion topics, please post to the group or leave a comment below. We hope you will visit the group page and join in our already lively discussions

Perhaps this was already posted and I have missed it, but what does this entail? What areas can someone volunteer in?

Hello Betsy -- Thank you for your interest! You can find all of ASHT's current volunteer opportunities on our website: https://www.asht.org/about/membership/volunteer. More opportunities are posted throughout the year, and we are in the process of developing a volunteer portal that will help facilitate the volunteer process and make it even easier for you to learn about new opportunities that fit your interests. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the Emerging Leaders e-Community to engage with current and interested volunteers, and keep your eyes out for new postings soon!
