Virtual Book Club: Leadership Development

ASHT is starting a virtual book club! No, it’s not on flexor tendons, modalities or evidence-informed practice… it’s about leadership development, and ways we can become better leaders in both our professional and personal lives.

Whether you are an experienced manager or department head, or someone just beginning to take on more responsibility in your job, we hope you will join us for an interactive discussion on the book Finding Your True North by Bill George. (Even if you forget to read it, join us anyway.)

The book discusses “authentic leadership,” and addresses leadership pitfalls and strategies for success. It is a quick read, and should provide a framework for discussion of the many leadership challenges we face in our professional lives. Authentic leaders are those whose inner compasses guide their daily actions and enables them to earn the trust of their subordinates, peers and coworkers. Each book chapter delves into the life stories of 101 global leaders who exemplify its lessons.

The “We Want You” volunteer campaign that launched in 2014 was the first part of a program developed by the ASHT board to increase member engagement in ASHT committees and programs. Our newest expansion of the program will provide members with leadership development education and opportunities, as well as resources to gain additional confidence and strategies for success. Look for other leadership development opportunities with ASHT coming soon!

Please join us at 8 p.m. ET August 18, 2016 as we begin this new adventure together! We look forward to a lively conversation.
