National Volunteer Week 2021

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” – William Shakespeare.

I have seen so many dedicated volunteers embody this quote by William Shakespeare while giving their precious time and talents to the American Society of Hand Therapist. We have so many talented people who have shared their gifts generously to move the field of hand and upper extremity rehabilitation forward.

During National Volunteer Week, it is important to reflect upon what so many volunteers have given. The time volunteers carve out from their busy routines to create an educational offering, develop a position paper, craft a legislative response or respond to a member question is precious. The examples are endless, and I hope during National Volunteer Week, all of our ASHT volunteers feel the genuine and deep appreciation we extend to them for giving their gifts to ASHT.

I also encourage any members who are interested in volunteering to explore our Volunteer Portal. We always welcome more people to join this engaged cohesive group that works tirelessly toward promoting excellence in our field.
