Growing the Hand Therapy Specialty While Remembering Its Roots

I am honored to have received the 2018 Mary Kasch Hand Therapy Certification Scholarship. To me, the scholarship represents the continuum from the pioneers of certified hand therapists; specifically, Mary Kasch, to future aspiring hand therapists. It is a way to keep growing the field of certified hand therapy, while remembering its roots.

I applied for the scholarship to enable me to have a distinct part in that continuum by becoming a certified hand thearpist (CHT). I was thrilled when I was chosen for the scholarship, and I used it to help with the cost of review books, practice tests, continuing education courses and the CHT Exam itself. I am proud to say that the hours of studying with these resources helped me pass the May 2018 CHT Exam.

I hope to use the knowledge and skills I gained through the study process and practicing as a CHT to make my mark in the profession, much as Mary Kasch did. I humbly thank the Mary Kasch Scholarship Committee, ASHT, HTCC, AHTF and its gracious donors for having given me this opportunity.

The Mary Kasch Hand Therapy Certification Scholarship is a financial scholarship awarded to a well-deserving occupational therapist or physical therapist preparing for the Hand Therapy Certification Examination. The scholarship is valid for the November 2019 and May 2020 examination. (If you do not plan on taking the exam on one of these dates, please do not apply this year.) The application window for the scholarship is open now through March 1, 2019. To learn more, please visit the scholarship information page. To apply, please complete the online application.
