Bark... No bite?

Do we all have those moments when we have these great ideas about what our society should or could do? Do we share those ideas with our friends, many of whom agree and contribute their own suggestions? Can you imagine what our society would be like if we captured all those ideas floating out there? Is it time to say, "Put your money where your mouth is”?
I would like to suggest that for those of you with great ideas – or even just the ability to recognize a great idea when it is presented – considering running for the 2015 ASHT Board of Directors.
ASHT is now accepting nominations for Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer-Elect and Board Member-at-Large. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 4, 2014.
Imagine being in a position where you have the responsibility and the authority to do something with your ideas to help our society move forward. That's what happens on the board. It’s a "playground" for ideas and possibilities, and an industry of can-do projects.
Running for an ASHT position is not easy: The job undoubtedly requires effort in numerous regards, but ask yourself, is my profession worth it? Has it been good to me? Is it my time to give back? If the answers are yes, then you are ready for service.
I encourage each of you to think about submitting a nomination for this year’s board elections. Discuss this opportunity with the significant others in your lives that this would affect. Make sure they are on board with this great adventure. And yes, it is an adventure – one that you will never forget, and one that will change you forever.
Take the plunge – don’t just talk about it.
