ASHT 2016 Annual Meeting: Washington, D.C.

Posted by Rebecca Neiduski, PhD, OTR/L, CHT 12/06/2015

It’s that time of year again -- time to start planning the ASHT 2016 Annual Meeting!
Our theme for 2016 is “Leading the Way,” and the meeting will take place September 15-18, 2016 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.
Pre-Conference Institutes are scheduled to begin Thursday afternoon, and educational sessions will continue through Sunday morning. As you may know from recent e-blasts, the submission site for instructional courses and Pre-Conference Institutes is now open! The submission site can be accessed online and will be open until January 15, 2016.
While our planning is in the very early stages, we are thrilled to announce that AOTA President Amy Jo Lamb, OTD/L, FAOTA and APTA President Sharon Dunn, PT, PhD, OCS will be joining us for the ASHT Presidential Invited Lecture. The opportunity to collaborate with the leadership of our parent organizations cannot be understated, and we look forward to welcoming them to our meeting.
In addition to our meeting planning, we are thrilled to partner with AOTA for Capitol Hill Day on Monday, September 19, 2016. This advocacy opportunity will allow our members – both PTs and OTs – to provide education to our nation’s legislators on the issues that impact the provision of hand therapy services. Participants will work with AOTA government and legislative staff members who will offer continuing credit sessions (and no additional registration costs), with material that is specific to the issues relevant to hand therapists, irrespective of your OT or PT background, in preparation for your Hill visits the next morning. We hope you will join us in taking advantage of this amazing opportunity!
We encourage you to consider submitting an educational session for 2016, and hope you will add the following dates to your 2016 calendar:
January 15, 2016: Educational session submission deadline for the 2016 Annual Meeting
September 15-18, 2016: ASHT 39TH ANNUAL MEETING
September 19, 2016: Capitol Hill Day
With many thanks from your 2016 Annual Meeting Committee:
