About

Founded in 1977, the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) is an organization of hand therapy professionals dedicated to advancing the field of hand and upper extremity therapy by promoting education, advocacy, research and clinical standards. ASHT members include occupational and physical therapists, physician extenders, surgeons, researchers and administrators.

ASHT offers a range of membership levels, including Active membership for those who have completed the requirements for the advanced designation of Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). ASHT also offers Associate membership for occupational and physical therapists; Affiliate membership for occupational therapy and physical therapy assistants, surgeons, nurse practitioners and other allied health professionals; and Student membership for occupational therapy and physical therapy students.
