Amanda Higgins, BScOT, OT Reg (NB)

Amanda Higgins is a clinical occupational therapist in upper extremity and burn rehabilitation at the Saint John Regional Hospital (SJRH) in New Brunswick, Canada. Amanda earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is currently the editor of the Therapy Corner section of the AAHS quarterly newsletter and has served as secretary of the Canadian Society of Hand Therapy.

Amanda has been an invited speaker or presenter at multiple national and international meetings, including the 2007 and 2010 IFSHT Congresses, the 2009, 2010, and 2014 American Association of Hand Surgery meetings, and the 2009 and 2016 Canadian Society of Hand Therapists meetings. In 2010, she was asked to speak at the ASHT California Chapter meeting in San Jose on flexor tendon management.

Amanda has worked closely with Dr. Lalonde and has presented on the influence of the WALANT technique on hand treatment programs used at Saint John’s. She has a chapter in Dr. Lalonde’s new text discussing the integration of therapists into the WALANT technique.
