2017 Nathalie Barr Lectureship Award Nomination Form

NOMINATION INFORMATION

Purpose:

The Nathalie Barr Lectureship Award honors a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists who has made significant original contributions to hand rehabilitation and to ASHT. The nominee must have shared this information through publication and speaking presentations; and/or shared a unique quality of work, theory, research and education that is original and genuinely supports ASHT mission, values and vision in one of following ways:

  • Development and/or refinement of professional theory, clinical methods and/or techniques used in hand therapy.
  • Outstanding research with outcomes evidence to support hand therapy treatment.
  • Contributions to hand therapy development, and to ASHT, as a profession.
  • Contributions to the specialty of hand rehabilitation and/or healthcare not related to ASHT, specifically the candidate’s contributions to public service and/or awareness of hand therapy.

Process:

The Awards Committee accepts nominees from the membership and selects the award winner through a structured process. The award is presented at the ASHT Annual Meeting during the Awards Ceremony.

Eligibility:

Nominees for the Nathalie Barr Lectureship Award must be an Active member in good standing of ASHT for at least five years.

Requirements:

  • Completed online nomination form which indicates the year in which the award nomination will be considered.
  • Letter of nomination from an Active ASHT member in good standing for at least one year establishing why the nominee meets the criteria of the award.
  • Current curriculum vitae of the nominee.
  • Two additional letters of support that specifically focus on the strengths of the individual. Letters of support will specifically address one or more of the criterion for selection, reflecting on the genuine knowledge and consideration of the nominee’s qualifications for the honor and clearly indicating the capacity the letter writer works or worked with the nominee. The letter must identify the facility/institution the letter writer represents.

 

This completed application must be submitted no later than June 8, 2017.

 

NOMINEE APPLICATION FORM

1. The nomination letter (written by the nominator) must be accompanied by the following:

  • Current nomination form, which indicates the year in which the award nomination will be considered
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Two additional letters of support that specifically focus on the strengths of the nominee in relation to the award. The nominator will solicit letters from two other individuals. Letters of support will specifically address one or more of the criterion for selection, reflecting on the genuine knowledge and consideration of the nominees qualifications for the honor and clearly indicating the capacity the letter writer works or worked with the nominee. The letter must identify the facility/institution the letter writer represents

2. Please provide specific information for the following categories of selection criteria. Information may be used once and not repeated in other categories. Please do NOT indicate “see attached CV.” The information provided below will be the basis for evaluating the candidate’s qualification for selection.

I. Development and/or refinement of professional theory and/or techniques used in hand therapy

A. Candidate’s contributions in publications significant to field and body of knowledge of hand rehabilitation through clinical methods and treatment, research and/or education (not as part of regular paid employment — can receive stipend or honorarium, expenses).

B Candidate’s involvement in lectures and speaking engagements (honorarium-based experiences and not part of regular paid employment)

II. Outstanding research with outcomes evidence to support hand therapy research

A. Candidate’s contribution to research providing the evidence-base to support practice area of hand therapy

III. Contributions to hand therapy development, and to ASHT, as a profession

A. Candidates leadership and service involvement in Hand Therapy and ASHT/AHTF/HTCC

A. Candidate’s contributions to public service and/or awareness of hand therapy
