2017 MacDermid Lifetime Scientific Award in Hand Therapy Nomination Form

NOMINATION INFORMATION

Purpose:

This distinguished award recognizes an ASHT member who has made contributions through research to the science and practice of hand rehabilitation, which have subsequently changed hand therapy professional standards.

Process:

The Awards Committee will accept nominations from the ASHT Research Division, from the AHTF board and from the Journal of Hand Therapy editorial review board, as well as from ASHT Active members. The Awards Committee in conjunction with designated members of the Research Division will evaluate the nominations received through an established and structured selection process and recommend one individual who best meets the award criteria to the ASHT Board of Directors for final approval. The award is announced at the ASHT Annual Meeting during the awards ceremony. The recipient will be given a plaque and a $1,000 honorarium. The recipient of the award will present his/her research contributions during the MacDermid Lectureship at the following year’s Annual Meeting. If the award is to be given, the recipient will be notified two months in advance of the Annual Meeting at which the award will be announced. The award may not be given every year if no eligible candidates are nominated.

Eligibility:

An ASHT member who has demonstrated career-long research-related endeavors that have had a lasting and transformative impact on the science and practice of hand therapy.

Requirements and Procedures:

  • Letter of nomination describing nominee’s suitability for the award from the ASHT Research Division or committee chair or their designee; or from the Journal of Hand Therapy editor or designee; or the AHTF president or designee or other active ASHT member(s)
  • Letters of support: at least one letter of support from an ASHT member; additional letters will be accepted from academic chairs, grant reviewers, co-investigators, hand therapists and researchers who can attest to the nominee’s contributions to hand therapy
  • Current curriculum vitae of the nominee with electronic link to the nominee’s publications in PubMed
  • Completed online application form

 

This completed application must be submitted no later than June 8, 2017.
