AHTF Evelyn Mackin Traveling Hand Therapist Award
The AHTF Evelyn Mackin Traveling Hand Therapist Award is designed to fund a practicing occupational or physical therapist, who is a current member of the American Society of Hand Therapists or a Certified Hand Therapist, in traveling to various hand therapy facilities, in presenting on a specific domain of hand therapy, and in sharing the "pearls" of hand rehabilitation learned from the experience. This funding opportunity is $3,000.
AHTF Burkhalter New Investigator Grant
The AHTF Burkhalter New Investigator Grant is for clinical research in hand and upper limb rehabilitation. It was established in honor of Dr. William Burkhalter (1928-1992), a long time advocate and promoter of hand therapy. This funding opportunity is $4,000.
AHTF “Grab the Evidence” Grant For Basic Research Science and Evidenced Based Studies
The AHTF Grab the Evidence Grant was established in response to the growing need to fund basic research science and evidence based studies in hand and upper limb rehabilitation. This grant is provided through specific contributions of individuals and corporations and is awarded when the minimum contributions reach an amount close to $10,000. The purpose of the award is designed to serve as a catalyst for a skilled researcher and/or research team to develop their role as principal investigators and to obtain seed money for procurement of larger external funding. Hand fellowship students may apply when supported by a faculty member in an occupational or physical therapy program.

The Dissertation Research Grant Program of the Institute for the Study of Occupation and Health provides an award based in part upon the structure of the National Institutes of Health .The research grant seeks to promote the development of qualified occupational therapy researchers.
The American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH)
The oldest medical specialty society in the United States devoted to continuing medical education and research related to hand surgery has grants from $20,000 to $100,000 but a member of the research team must be a member of the ASSH.

Annual Research Grant
Annual Research Grants were established to foster creativity and innovation in basic and/or clinical research in all areas pertinent to hand surgery. The awards are funded by the Hand Surgery Endowment and administered by the Association. One (1) grant in the amount of $10,000 will be made for a one (1) year period. All AAHS members and candidates for membership are eligible to apply. Residents and fellows sponsored by an AAHS member are eligible to apply as well. There may be up to three (3) co-investigators, one (1) of the investigators MUST be an Active or Affiliate AAHS member.
