She completed her PhD at Temple University in the Department of Physical Therapy in 2007. Her research interest is in the area of upper extremity tendinopathies. In 2005, she was awarded the "Best Scientific Paper" at the ASHT Annual Meeting for her paper, "The presence of Substance P in Forelimb Tendons in a model of upper extremity work-related musculoskeletal disorder." In 2006, she was awarded the Petzoldt Award at the ASHT Annual Meeting for her paper, "The presence of NMDAr1 in Forelimb Tendons in a model of upper extremity work-related musculoskeletal disorder." She has received grants from American Association Hand Surgery (AAHS) and American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) for these studies. She has published chapters in the 4th and 5th editions of Rehabilitation of the Hand and Upper Extremity and is a co-editor for the 6th edition to be published in February 2011. She has also served on the board of the Hand Rehabilitation Section of the APTA.

This webinar will provide information on therapists' management of tennis elbow. It will include a review of the relevant upper extremity anatomy including tendon tissue structure. This webinar will emphasize a clinical reasoning approach supported by current evidence in the literature for examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care for non-operative management. Current concepts of histopathological findings in tendinopathies will be presented along with the implications for rehabilitation.

Upon completion of this webinar, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the histopathological changes associated with tennis elbow.
  2. Apply appropriate clinical examination procedures to identify tendon condition, determine prognosis, and evaluate treatment outcomes.
  3. Discuss non-operative treatment options relevant to histopathological changes of patients with tennis elbow.
  4. Integrate current best practice to develop a plan of care non-operative management of patients with tennis elbow.

Attendees earn 1 CE hour for each webinar.
