ASHT Hands on Orthotics Course
The American Society of Hand Therapists is proud to offer an exciting new program, Hands on Orthotics. This program is oriented towards a basic level and is designed to give therapists an opportunity to fabricate common orthoses with the mentorship of an experienced therapist.
We are introducing an innovative hybrid model of course delivery that incorporates online delivery followed by “hands on” experience in orthotic fabrication.
Objectives – Upon completion of this course, attendees should:
- Become familiar with the properties of materials used for orthotic fabrication and be able to select appropriate materials based on the patient’s injury
- Understand the basic biomechanical principles of orthotic fabrication
- Attain experience in fabricating several of the most commonly prescribed orthoses.
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge gained during the course by completing an online post-test
