British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT)
The Educational Sub-committee of the BAHT is responsible for promoting and facilitating postgraduate hand therapy education. BAHT validated courses are provided at level I, II and III for qualified occupational and physiotherapists to gain modular points towards the professional qualification of Accredited Hand Therapist BAHT. There are various routes towards attaining the hand therapy qualification available to therapists. These have been developed to accommodate those who have been working in the field for many years and those who are new to hand therapy. The latter are recommended to take the first route.
Route One

3 courses at Level II = 6 BAHT points - Courses promoting professional competence in a specialist aspect of hand therapy.
1 paper at Level III = 5 BAHT points - Based on a new piece of work, therapists demonstrate appropriate competence in one area of hand therapy. Assessment of the work is by a review paper, employment based report, project or paper for publication.

Route Two
Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) Points will be awarded on acceptance of work proving a level of knowledge equivalent to BAHT Levels I, II and III.
