"Navigating the Maze" - is a resource page to help guide a person through obtaining and reviewing EBM. Includes a pyramid graphic representation to help efficiently search for the best evidence. Very helpful descriptions and links for the following databases: Cochrane, DARE, ACP journal club, Medline, Clinical Evidence, Inforetriever and weblinks to free evidence-based resources on the web.

Provides links to EBP resources available on the internet and are directly related to O.T.

Evidence-based O.T. web-portal. Provides helpful resources and information for searching, databases, appraising, implement, EBP resource directory, teaching EBP and discussion.

The Web page contains references, bibliographies, tutorials, glossaries and online databases to guide those embarking on teaching and practicing evidence-based medicine. It offers practice tools to support critical analysis of the literature and MEDLINE searching, as well as links to other sites that help enable evidence-based medical care.

Broken down into sections: EBM, Building Questions, Searching Literature, Appraising Evidence, EBM at Duke and Internet Resources. This is a very comprehensive site which is further broken down under each heading. The section of internet resources has many helpful links.

This is the Emory University MedWeb site. Under Evidence-Based Medicine heading there are 25 links to sites and search engines that are evidence-based.

"Evidence-based thinking about healthcare". This is an independent journal about EBM, written by Oxford Scientists. It is the premiere source of EBM in the UK. Journal subscriptions can be ordered for a fee. Internet site is free of charge.

American Academy of Family Physicians Web site. Under news and publication heading there is free access to full text articles of thier journals which include: American Family Physician - peer reviewed evidence-based journal, Family Practice Management and Annals of Family Medicine.

Journal of Family Practice. Evidence-Based, peer reviewed and indexed. Free access to full text and PDF articles.

Produces core content for the Cochrane Library including the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Free summaries. Limited free full text articles. Residents of Wyoming can access the Cochrane Library for free through their public, community college and medical libraries. Personal subscription for $285/yr.

National Guideline Clearinghouse, a public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. Very easy to use.

Under the Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPC) Program of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (formerly the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research—AHCPR), 5-year contracts are awarded to institutions in the United States and Canada to serve as EPCs. The EPCs review all relevant scientific literature on clinical, behavioral, and organization and financing topics to produce evidence reports and technology assessments. These reports are used for informing and developing coverage decisions, quality measures, educational materials and tools, guidelines, and research agendas. The EPCs also conduct research on methodology of systematic reviews.

Best Evidence Topics. You can search the database for BET's or critical appraisals in the areas of emergency medicine, cardiothoracics, nursing, primary care and pediatrics. BET's were developed to provide rapid evidence based answers to real life clinical questions.

Has free resources to help with learning and using EBM. Has list of sites that use EB summaries of clinical research.

Physiotherapy Evidence Database

McMaster University School of Rehabilitation Science website. The heading for research and resources is very helpful . It gives a list of literature databases and strategies for searching for EBM.

University of Sheffield website. Features an introduction to evidence based practice. Resources include a virtual library, software, journals, databases, how to search, appraise and implement the evidence . Very comprehensive and useful site.

National Institutes of Health. List of grants and funding opportunities. Health Databases, search of clinical trials. Has links to Medline Plus and PubMed. Links to federal health agencies.

National Library of Medicine. Links to PubMed and Medline Plus. Lists of grants and funding.

PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 17 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.

Allows APTA members to search database of articles relevant to PT and evidenced based medicine. Lists web resources for EBM and has clinical practice guidleines.

Sections for practicing EBM, Teaching EBM, Evidence Resources and Glossary of EMB terms. Very useful website.

Online tool to help clinicians appraise studies/articles. Has a very helpful link to EBM taching tips with printable worksheet for critical appraisal. Additional interactive portions of the website require subscription.

Very useful site. Provides resources for learning and teaching EBM. Sections include learning EBM, teaching EBM, research and resources.

Glossary of terms, links to Cochrane database, outcomes, clinical practice guidelines links. Part of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Website.

Access to information of the DASH. Also has information re: background scoring, reliability/validity of the form. Several other outcome measures listed. Part of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Click on Evidence-Based Practice Resources in order to access AOTA's Evidence Briefs, Evidence-Based Resource Directory and Evidence Byte. Can also subscribe to OT Search, a bibliographic database relating to Occupational Therapy.
