MEDICARE THERAPY CAP - Moratorium extended for two years!! (November 2003)
The implementation of the Cap had gone into effect, but has since been granted a moratorium for another TWO YEARS! For more information visit: http://waysandmeans.house.gov/media/pdf/healthdocs/confagreement.pdf
AOTA is also monitoring the situation: http://www.aota.org/nonmembers/area17/links/link18.asp.
The implementation of the Cap had last been postponed until September 1, but went into effect when CMS did not delay implementation for the third time. Congress was unable to extend a moratorium back in January of this year, but Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) delayed implementation twice before and many were hoping that CMS would again. Although this is a big success that a moratorium has again been extended for two years, ASHT is continuing to join together with allied organizations to continue to fight the CAP. You are encouraged to contact your state representatives and Senators.
Stay tuned to ASHT and other therapy organizations for more information on the progress of legislation to stop the $1500 cap as it becomes available.
